Junior Representative Awards 2022 | NOMINATIONS OPEN

The junior representative season is over for 2022 and it’s time to have your say. While all our Tigers played their hearts out, each year we recognise the players, teams, and referees who went the extra mile.

Junior coaches have the difficult task of selecting three players to receive individual awards for their team. We need your nominations to select Association award recipients.

Nominations are being sought for the following awards before 5pm Friday 16 July:

• Junior Representative Player (Male & Female)
• Junior Representative Referee
• The Ryan Walsh Memorial Trophy for Representative Team of the Year
• Representative Coach of the Year

How to Apply:

• Download the nomination form
• Complete the form and return to admin@shoalhavenbasketball.com.au with the subject line ‘Award Nominations’
• Nominations MUST meet the criteria to be considered and will be evaluated by a panel of SBA representatives who do not have any conflict of interest with the junior representative program

Nominations for senior representative awards plus domestic player and referee awards will be called for toward the end of the year.

Junior Representative Player of the Year – Male & Female

To be awarded to the junior male and female players who have achieved success with their representative development beyond SBA this year. The player must demonstrate good sportsmanship. Ideally, the player gives back to the Association by being generally helpful and positive around the stadium and while travelling. Must be a player in the U16 or U18 age group.

The criteria for consideration set out for this award are:

1. Selection in BNSW development opportunities: IAS, Country, Tour/Slam team, TAP, NITP or above

Junior Representative Referee

To be awarded to the junior representative referee of any age who has achieved success with their development as a representative referee this year. The referee continues to build on their current knowledge and is generally helpful and positive around the stadium at home and when travelling.

The criteria set out for this award are:

1. Being selected to referee at a representative level beyond SBA.
2. Shown commitment to developing as a referee.

The Ryan Walsh Memorial Trophy for Representative Team of the Year

This trophy is to be awarded to the representative team that demonstrates true team spirit. Does not necessarily have to be the most successful team. Things to consider:

1. Display a high degree of commitment to train together, stay together and play together
2. Demonstrate a supportive and collegiate team culture
3. Display positive behaviour and sportsmanship when playing

Representative Coach of the Year

To be awarded to a Representative Coach who demonstrates commitment to their team and SBA. This award is open to Senior and Junior Coaches so nominations will be called for again when the senior representative season finishes and will be presented after that time.

The criteria set out for this award are:

1. Shows a passion for basketball and commitment to their team
2. Builds a strong rapport and gets the best from their players
3. Demonstrates good sportsmanship on the bench when representing SBA
