WHY A MUSTER DAY?
The aim of Muster Day is to ensure that players have the best experience possible. Registering in advance gives SBA accurate numbers to create teams and book court space. It also simplifies the process for new and returning players by placing them in a team on the day.
Registering in advance will reduce the administration of chasing unpaid fees and players who do not notify SBA that they are not returning for a new season.
HOW WILL TEAMS BE SELECTED?
Registered players will participate in short games and drills on the day to be placed into a team for the Winter Season. Selectors will do their best to consider friendship groups while ensuring an even spread of skill across teams. At the end of the session, you’ll know your team name and will be able to follow it on Game Day early the following week.
WHAT IF I CAN’T ATTEND MY MUSTER DAY?
If you are unable to attend the Muster Day for your age group, go ahead and register for the Summer Season.
Follow up your registration by emailing enquiries@shoalhavenbasketball.com.au to request an exemption. New players can include a description of their basketball experience and the name of one player you would like to be placed in a team with.
WHAT ABOUT THE U18 BOYS?
Players in Under 18 Boys nominate their own teams in the same way as the Seniors. We are trialling an extension of Under 18 Boys age range to Under 19 Boys. This allows players to stay with their friends in their school year group. Players who turn 18 in 2023 will move up to the Senior competition for the 2023/2024 Summer Season. Players who turn 18 in 2023 are classified as seniors by the BNSW system and must pay senior comp fees.
Email enquiries@shoalhavenbasketball.com.au by Monday 3 April to enter an U19 Boys team. A form will be sent for you to nominate the team name, team delegate, and two duty referees.
UNIFORM
- Players require a reversible Shoalhaven Basketball singlet to play (available online when registering).
- Shorts must be black with no pockets or large logos.
- Representative shorts are not to be worn for domestic comp.
- Compression garments and sleeves must be black.
- Shorts do not include leggings, stockings or tights of any length. Leggings will be permitted with shorts over the top in June, July or August only.
- T-Shirts, black or the same predominant colour as the playing singlet, are permitted to be worn under the playing singlet.
Uniform guidelines are outlined in the Uniform Policy and Domestic Competition Rules.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Parent volunteers are a critical part of running a successful season. You’ll notice parents and caregivers coaching, on the score table, refereeing, assisting committees, and many other volunteer roles. Get involved!
- Every team will require a coach for the Summer Season. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to coach or play – it can be as simple as ensuring that all players get fair court time and acting as a central point of contact for your team.
- Every game requires two people on the bench to keep score on the iPad and score board, preferably one from each team.
- Games can’t go ahead without referees but they are in short supply. Come along to a referee clinic and jump on court.
- Referees are required across all age groups. Courses are run regularly for new referees and you will be supported on court by a referee supervisor while earning your stripes. Without referees, there is no game!
Shoalhaven Basketball provides training in all of these areas and other parents are always willing to share their knowledge. We’ll be calling for coaches and other volunteers at each Muster session.
