Each year, SBA takes the opportunity to recognise members of the Tigers community who have positively impacted SBA’s culture and operations in our weekly domestic competitions or the Association as a whole.
You are invited to nominate one person for each of the awards below:

Any member of the SBA community can be nominated for these awards. They will be presented during the End-of-Year Celebration week.
Please note: You MUST address the criteria below and tell us WHY you nominate the person. Supply as much information as possible to give your nominee the best chance of selection!
This award recognises an ADULT member of the Tigers community who demonstrates exceptional commitment to SBA. This person goes above and beyond without the expectation of recognition and genuinely impacts the association’s success. It is not a requirement that this person is a committee member or holds a specific role.
The criteria for this award are:
i. Must be an active financial SBA member at the time of nomination.
ii. A passionate Tiger who models association values to the community and younger members. iii. Always willing to help when asked and proactively seeks opportunities to contribute.
This award recognises a member of the Tigers community UNDER THE AGE OF 18 who demonstrates exceptional commitment to SBA. This person goes above and beyond without the expectation of recognition and genuinely impacts the association’s success. The recipient will be a junior SBA member.
It is not a requirement that this person is a committee member or holds a specific role.
The criteria for this award are:
i. Must be an active financial SBA member at the time of nomination.
ii. A passionate Tiger who models association values to the community and younger members. iii. Always willing to help when asked and proactively seeks opportunities to contribute.
This award recognises a coach in the weekly domestic competition who creates an enjoyable team environment where everyone feels welcome. This award will be presented to a domestic coach from U12-19s at the SBA end-of-year celebration.
The criteria for this award are:
i. Shows commitment to a domestic team.
ii. Creates a welcoming team culture where all players are encouraged and supported. • Gives equal court time to all players and encourages fair play.
iii. Displays respectful, positive behaviour to officials and the opposing team.
This award recognises the development of a referee who regularly officiates in our domestic junior or senior competitions. This referee displays the attitude and aptitude to become a confident referee.
The criteria for this award are:
i. Has shown progression and improvement as a referee throughout the year.
ii. Demonstrates a desire to improve by attending relevant development opportunities.
iii. Shows a commitment to lifting the standard of basketball at SBA.
This award recognises a junior domestic player who brings tenacious, passionate, and competitive energy to the game. They lift their teammates by encouraging them and sharing a good sense of humour. This player is not necessarily the most skilful player on the court; they are the player who displays true team spirit to make the SBA domestic competition a positive space.
The criteria for this award are:
i. Someone who is a positive influence on their team and the vibe of the junior competition.
ii. A supportive teammate who displays good sportsmanship and embraces the spirit of fair play. • Play to the best of their ability every week.
iii. Brings a sense of humour and a positive attitude.
