At the end of each year, we take the opportunity to reflect on the people who volunteer their time to make SBA great. It is wonderful to see such variety in the nominations this year, and to see our junior members so well represented across the categories. Congratulations to the winners and all of the nominees!

This award recognises an adult member of the Tigers community who demonstrates exceptional commitment to SBA. This person goes above and beyond without the expectation of recognition and genuinely impacts the association’s success.
“Christine is one of the most passionate, committed, and community-focused Tigers I know. Her ongoing contribution has a significant and lasting impact across the entire association. She is very active in all elements of SBA from coaching to playing, to guiding young coaches, helping players, helping parents and volunteering for anything she can. ”
Nominees: Armani Dias, Diesel Romeo, Grace Lincoln, Isobel Campbell, Lexy McRae-Brumfield, Noah Claven
This award recognises a member of the Tigers community under the age of 18 who demonstrates exceptional commitment to SBA. This person goes above and beyond without expecting recognition and genuinely impacts the association’s success.
“Tessa is a cheerful, energetic, and generous member of the Tigers community whose contributions as a player, coach, referee and volunteer year have positively shaped the experience of many people across SBA. This award recognises the development of a referee who regularly officiates in our domestic junior or senior competitions. This referee displays the attitude and aptitude to become a confident referee.
“Since joining SBA, James has become a reliable and respected member of our referee group. He officiates across all age groups with the same level of respect, patience, and professionalism, and has built strong connections within the association. He has shown strong commitment not only to improving personally, but also to supporting the competition and lifting the standard of refereeing at SBA.“
Nominees: Bethany Booth, Ivy Evans, Jesse Edwards, Mary-Jane Toole, Michael Burke, Russell Parkinson, Tessa Volpatti
This award recognises a coach in the weekly domestic competition who creates an enjoyable team environment where everyone feels welcome.
“He was amazing with the boys this year and dealt with them in such a complimentary manner.“
Nominees: Armani Dias, Daluwathu De Silva (Randira), Diesel Romeo, Isobel Campbell, Jemima Storey, Lexy McRae-Brumfield, Tessa Volpatti
This award recognises a junior domestic player who brings tenacious, passionate, and competitive energy to the game. They lift their teammates by encouraging them and sharing a good sense of humour. This player is not necessarily the most skilful player on the court; they are the player who displays true team spirit to make the SBA domestic competition a positive space.
“Armani always treats other players with respect, constantly cheers and supports teammates, stays positive in rough games, and puts in full effort every game.”
“Randira clearly loves the game and shares that with the players around him. He gets double and triple teamed, gets fouled and I’ve never heard him complain about anything. He is a competitor and strong minded player and carries himself with pride at all times.”
