Vale William (Bill) Hilzinger

SBA is saddened by the news of the passing of Life Member William (Bill) Hilzinger on 18 October 2026.

Bill was an active SBA member who was involved in many aspects of the SBA community during the 1970s and 80s.

Bill held the role of SBA Board President and was a huge supporter of the Senior Tigers men. He played a pivotal role in securing international recruits for the team including Bob Turner. Bill was also instrumental in driving the continued development of the Tiger’s Den.

Bill’s commitment to basketball extended beyond SBA and included serving as a BNSW Board Member and as Manager of the NSW U20 men’s state team on numerous occasions.

SBA extends its deepest sympathies to Bill’s wife, Janice and to his children Annie, Bobby (dec), Lisa, Billy, Wendy, Marcus and Jenny, their families and to all those who knew and loved Bill.

Bill’s service will be held at The Chapel, Shoalhaven Memorial Gardens, Worrigee Road, Worrigee on Monday 2nd November 2026 at 10.00am. The service will be live-streamed via the Murphy Family Funerals website.
