Vale Scott Balsar

Shoalhaven Basketball Association is deeply saddened by the tragic death of Scott Balsar on Wednesday 10 January 2024 in a motor vehicle accident. 

Scott was a proud and passionate Tiger who represented the Tigers on court throughout his junior years and later, as a coach. After leading many SBA teams to victory over the years, most recently the 2018 Div 2 Youth Men, Scott returned to coaching at SBA in 2023 in the U12B domestic comp with his son, Elijah.

His passion for the game saw him forge a path within basketball as a coach well beyond the Tigers. He led teams at the Association, State, and WNBL levels, as well as working with the BNSW High Performance Program. Scott continued to share his love of the game as a coach educator for BNSW.

Scott’s contribution to SBA included as a valued player, coach, referee, and employee. He was also a friend to many in the Tigers community. 

Our love and thoughts are with Carla, Chloe, Elijah and Gemma, and Erwin and Dianne, as well as their extended family and friends.

We wish Elijah well for a full recovery from the injuries he sustained in the accident.
